to access Campus or Government resources, you may need to provide the proper form of Indentification

University of Toronto T-Card

The TCard is your physical identification/credential for on-campus purposes. It includes your photo, UTORid, student number or personnel number, and a barcode. Data from/on the card is used to verify/grant access to relevant services and facilities like libraries, athletic facilities, exams, meal plans, printing services and more.

Social Insurance Number

As an international student, you will need to get a SIN if you plan on working for a Canadian employer or if you would like to access Canadian government programs and benefits. If you have not worked in Canada but are a resident of Canada for tax purposes, you will need a SIN to file an income tax and benefit return.

Ontario Photo Card

In place of carrying your international passport around with you, you can apply for an Ontario Photo card. The Ontario Photo Card is a wallet sized card that provides government-issued photo identification to residents of Ontario who do not have a driver’s license, making it easier to do any activities that require official identification.

Personal Information Security

While having these forms of identification are necessary to access various resources, supports, and activities, you must also learn to keep your personal identification and information safe. Unfortunately, new International Students are often targeted by scammers hoping to obtain your personal information as a means for financial gain. Being informed about possible phone or e-mail scams allows you to identify and act quickly to avoid any harm. See the safety guide below to learn how to Recognize, Respond, and Report any instances of Phone or E-mail Scams.
