WHAT IS THE TM PROGRAM?

The Transition Mentor program is an essential part of the first-year experience of all undergraduate students at Victoria College at the University of Toronto.

All incoming first-year students will be put in a mentor group led by a Transition Mentor, an upper-year Vic student, who will help orient them to university life throughout their first year. Mentors will provide new students with opportunities to connect with peers, get engaged with Vic and U of T, and meet their personal and academic goals.

After leading first-year students through Orientation Week, Mentors will:

  • help students find and access various academic, personal, mental health, financial, and extracurricular resources available at Victoria College and U of T.

  • host weekly drop-in social events and workshops to help students form connections while accessing important resources.

  • participate in monthly excursions focused on community building while exploring Toronto attractions.

First-year students will also receive a weekly newsletter written by the Orientation and Transition Intern! This newsletter will provide timely tips, campus events, and pointers for making the most out of your first year at Victoria College!

Weekly Events

All incoming first-year students are encouraged to join our weekly Transition Mentor events! These events will run every week of the school year, and will connect incoming students with their peers, and upper year supports!

Each week we will host:

  • 1 drop-in lunch social in the Wendy Cecil Atrium featuring free lunch and resources as part of the Goldring at a Glance Series

  • 1 drop-in nighttime social in the Wendy Cecil Atrium featuring snacks, crafts, and activities

These events are completely free of charge and are perfect opportunities to become more connected with your college community!

We look forward to seeing you there!

Monthly events

All incoming first-year students are encouraged to join our monthly Transition Mentor excursions! These events will run once a month, as an opportunity to explore the city of Toronto with your new college community! Often referred to as “the Six,” Toronto is home to an abundance of sights and a plethora of community supports.

Each month we will host:

  • 1 Toronto-based excursion including a double-decker bus tour, a trip to Ripley’s Aquarium, and more

These events are completely free of charge and city-bound excursions include free transportation! You’ll receive information on how to sign up in the weekly emails sent by the Orientation and Transition Intern. Make sure you stay tuned!
