October Wellness themes

Academic and Mental

October is here, and VicWell’s themes for the month are Academic and Mental wellness! We get it—as the days get shorter and the workload gets heavier, motivation can start to dip. But this is exactly the time to double down on the routines that help keep the motivation and momentum going. Join us in thinking about how to build healthy habits around studying, sleeping, and caring for ourselves.

Let’s find ways to move with the semester, meeting mid-term season with the tools we need to thrive. This may look like setting achievable goals, pacing our studying, and yes, grabbing that pumpkin-spiced treat :)

Check out the resources that we’ve created to help your document your process and progress.

Happy October, Vickies! 🍁

Care Well

What does self-care look like this month? Remember, wellbeing isn’t one-dimensional—it includes social, emotional, physical, psychological, spiritual, and academic aspects. Caring for any of these areas is a step toward caring for all of them. 🌱

Tip: Attend Gather in the Goldring (every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in the Wendy Cecil Atrium from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM) to meet Vic Students and connect to Commuter Dons, International Mentors, and Transition Mentors. Student staff are ready to say hello, connect you to other students, and see how the start of your year is going.

Sleep Well -

Your nervous system will thank you every time you choose sleep over late-night caffeine. Well-rested students tend to perform better on exams and enjoy their social interactions more. So, let’s get that sleep hygiene in check! 😴

Tip: Try turning off all screens at least an hour before bed. Reward yourself every time you succeed in this challenge—you’ve earned it.
