2024 sessions

All incoming first-year students are encouraged to join Slice of Vic! It is a weekly social hosted by the Transition Mentor Team, aiming to provide first-year students with opportunities to socialize and learn about tips to adjust to university life. Slice of Vic will be held every week in the Wendy Cecil Atrium (first floor of the Goldring Student Centre).

Come enjoy a free lunch with us while having fun and learning something new about life at Vic!

  • Getting Involved at Vic

    Event Description: Interested in learning how to create community at university? This session, featuring Campus Life Coordinator, Ali Kehl, will do just that! Extracurriculars are an essential part of the university experience. Learn about how to get involved with Vic’s many clubs and organizations!

  • Study Tips & Essay Writing 101

    Event Description: Ever feel like you’ve been reading your notes over and over, but your brain isn’t registering any information? Worried that your academic essay doesn’t meet the measure? Come learn how to study more effectively and write a great essay!

  • Personal Finances & Budgeting Tips

    Event Description: Buying groceries for the first time? Budgeting for your books and social outings? Come to this session, led by Associate Dean, Heidi Pepper Coles, to learn how to create a personal budget.

  • Learning How to Balance Your Priorities & Manage Stress

    Event Description: Midterms, exams, personal obligations, social life - balancing it all can lead to burnout and exhaustion. Come out and learn more about how to find balance in your schedule and habits to prevent burnout!

    Event Description: Are you feeling a bit stressed with your first finals season around the corner? This session will help you feel prepared to tackle each one of your presentations, essays, and exams!

    Event Description: Join us and make your own grab bag filled with study supplies, snacks, stickers and self-care items!
